Most Primary Schools offer Music as a subject, but at Grace Primary we offer a Performing Arts program which encompasses music, speech and drama and theatrics.

Students in Prep-6 have a Performing Arts class every week and in it they learn the musical concepts of rhythm, pitch, dynamics and expression but also how to perform, compose and be confident on stage in front of an audience.

Year 2 & 3 Immersion Program

In Year 2, a full strings immersion program is part of the school music lessons. Students currently learn the violin.

In Year 3, a full band immersion program is part of the lessons. Students have a range of instruments to choose from to continue their learning.

These two programs are included in our fees.

Co-Curricular Program

Our Performing Arts Program was a national finalist in the 2022 awards for best Co-Curricular Program.
From Prep to Year 6, the opportunity exists for parents to choose if their child does extra instrumental or dance lessons and therefore this is an added fee which is included in the annual fee statement. Singers can also join the choir and perform at chapel services and at special functions. The school musical provides further opportunity to perform, as do concerts for all year levels. The school band and ensemble groups are open for students to join.

MUSICAL AUDITION INFORMATION

All Dance Enrolments will go live on the school Shop on 8th of January. A full semester of payment is required to secure enrolment at this time. To withdraw from Performing Arts Co-Curricular activity, please withdraw here, noting a terms notice is require.

DANCE

Ballet Troupe, Ballet Exam, Jazz troupe, Jazz Exam, Contemporary Troupe, Contemporary Exam, Hip Hop, Acro/Cheer or Tap.

DANCE EXAMS

These classes are additional to the performing troupe enrolled in and focus on the precise CSTD syllabus required for examinations.

ACRO/CHEER

Acro classes however are strictly a skills/technique based class where students build strength & flexibility.

INSTRUMENTS

Piano, Strings, Singing, Guitar, Percussion, Woodwind, Cello, Violin or Brass.

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE

Students enrolled in instrumental lessons at GLPS are encouraged to enrich their lessons by playing in one of our ensembles.

CHOIR

Choral ensembles are open to all students from Grades Prep-6. Our three choirs consist of our Junior Choir (Grades 1-3), Senior Choir (Grades 4-6) and our Prep Singing Group. Choral ensembles are offered at no additional cost.

MUSICALS

We delight in our school musicals which are held biannually. All prep dance troupes, all junior dance troupes, junior acro/cheer, junior choir, all senior dance troupes, senior acro/cheer, senior choir and all students who are successful in auditioning are in the musicals.
